As a licensed skin care expert, I’ve got to tell you a secret: dermaplaning is one of those treatments that I think everyone should have. From exfoliation to removal of pesky vellus hair, it’s my favorite treatment to incorporate into my clients’ monthly skin care routine.

In my opinion, dermaplaning is the best thing ever invented! We use a sterile, surgical steel 10r “butter blade” to go over the skin and remove any vellus hair and dead skin. This amazing exfoliation treatment also helps stimulate collagen growth to help improve skin texture and tightness.
Nope! Shaving uses a larger blade to remove unwanted hair, usually at home. Dermaplaning, on the other hand, is performed by a trained esthetician. It uses a smaller blade and has many different benefits, including:
The last thing many women want is for their facial hair to grow back darker and/or thicker. Dermaplaning will not give you stubble, although it may appear like that at first. Why?
Lucky for you, dermaplaning doesn’t cause breakouts – it actually helps prevent them! Regular treatments help keep pores clear by:
While dermaplaning won’t remove blackheads (a better treatment would be a HydraFacial or the Extractions add-on), blackheads will become less noticeable with proper exfoliation.
Yes, it can actually help both! Melasma is a pigment disorder with darkened discoloration apparent on the face or arms, usually due to sun exposure. Rosacea, on the other hand, is categorized by chronic flares of redness on the face.
Paired with a chemical peel, dermaplaning can help pigment treatment products penetrate the skin better for lighter, better results. Using a quality SPF product can also help prevent future issues!
