When coming in for an eyebrow tinting appointment, there are a few things to expect. If possible, make sure you do not have any makeup or gel in your brows. If you do no worries, we will go ahead and cleanse them for you. It’s also recommended that you avoid any kind of self or spray tan 3 days prior to an appointment. With or without any makeup, the brows will be wiped down with a cotton round to remove any excess oil.
After cleansing, here at Atalo Aesthetics in Cincinnati, OH we will then analyze and discuss with the patient what color would best suit their brows. Results are immediate, so you’ll know right away whether you’re happy with the tint that was chosen. Luckily, eyebrow tinting is only a semi-permanent solution. So if you find you’re unhappy with a certain color or tint, then we can always readjust for the next appointment!
After discussing and finding the right fit the semi-dye will be applied to the brows. Brow tint will be left on for no more than 2-3 minutes. The reason behind the timing being short is that the color tends to oxidize fast. I always say less is best at first, we cannot take away color, but we can certainly add on more if you would like your brows to be a bit darker.
The esthetician will then remove the color with a damp cotton round. I love to pair this service with a brow wax if needed. Doing the brow tint first helps highlight any hairs that may need to be waxed or tweezed.
Eyebrow tinting should last for about 4-6 weeks. To make sure your brows last as long as possible there are a few aftercare protocols you will need to follow.
Keep your eyebrows/brow area dry for the first 24 hours. When washing your face try your best to wash around them. As well when it comes to showering, try your best to not put your whole entire face into the water. Refrain from touching your eyebrows for the first 24 hours. Avoid any harsh cleansers/exfoliants. Anything with AHAs can lessen the color of your brows. Also, be mindful of any products that brighten the skin, this can brighten your brows as well. You can still use them just make sure you are not rubbing it directly in the eyebrows.
Try not to brush your brows a lot throughout the day. Avoids swimming pools and salt water. When it comes to sun exposure make sure you are wearing a hat if you are going to be out in the sun for a prolonged amount of time. Sun can also lighten the brows. Do not self-tan or spray tan 3 days prior or 3 days post-treatment. The tint can react with the tan and could possibly turn the brows a greenish color. There are no serious contraindications when it comes to these aftercare instructions, this is just to make sure you get the most out of your treatment by making your brow color last longer.
