Glowing Through Summer: Your Guide to Clear, Healthy Skin

Summer is just around the corner, which means time to shift toward that summer skincare regimen! Our goal here at Atalo Aesthetics is to help you feel as natural and confident as possible. As a licensed esthetician, I will share how you can achieve glowing, healthy skin all summer. I’ll walk you through everything from products to treatments—let’s jump in.

Establish a Consistent Summer Skincare Routine

First things first, make sure you have an established and consistent skincare routine. When it comes to skincare routines, keep in mind that you do not need a 10-step regimen. I always recommend having a good cleanser that will target whatever your skin concerns are (dry, acne-prone, redness, etc.). After that, a high-quality vitamin C, some sort of correcting serum, moisturizer, and SPF. For your nightly summer skincare routine, you can skip the SPF and add in a retinol if you are able to do so.

Invest in a High-Quality Vitamin C

Heading into summer, as mentioned above, I suggest investing in good Vitamin C. It plays a big role in brightening the skin. It also helps reduce the appearance of brown spots and hyperpigmentation and promotes collagen production. Another great benefit of vitamin C is that it helps protect against UV damage and other environmental factors that create photoaging.

So when you start to build out that summer skincare routine, don’t skip the Vitamin C serum!

Apply Sunscreen Every Day!

Protecting your skin is just as important in the cold months as in the warmer months. If you haven’t been applying your sunscreen daily, it’s never too late to get into the habit, especially during the summer months when it’s most important. My go-to sunscreen is UV Elements by Elta MD. It’s a tinted sunscreen that is very light but still has good coverage. 

With sunscreen, you want to avoid anything chemical—always reach for SPF labeled as physical or mineral.

Summer Skincare Treatments to Consider

While products provide daily protection for your skin during the summer, it’s essential not to neglect treatments as well. Sometimes, your skin needs that extra little boost of help!

As always, stay on top of your monthly HydraFacials. These facials will help deliver hydration, while also exfoliating the skin. Exfoliation is very important as it helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and reveals fresh, glowing skin. We recommend them monthly to keep all of that excess summer sweat and oil under control.

If you are a candidate for any laser treatments, I suggest getting those in before summer. With treatments like BBL, you cannot have an active tan on your face.  Laser treatments can help achieve an even skin tone and rejuvenate the skin, leaving it dewy and fresh. If you’re considering laser treatments during the summer, be cautious of direct sun exposure and be vigilant with your SPF application.

Do As Little or As Much As You Can
