Start your morning routine with a gentle, hydrating cleanser that won’t strip your skin or trigger irritation. Look for a sulfate-free formula that is designed for sensitive skin. A non-foaming, cream-based cleanser will help remove excess oils without upsetting the skin’s moisture balance. Opt for a product that contains soothing ingredients like ceramides, glycerin, or niacinamide. These will help to support your skin’s barrier function while also calming any redness from rosacea.

Using a hydrating toner or essence can help to balance your skin’s pH and prepare it for the next steps in your routine. For rosacea and acne-prone skin, choose a toner with calming ingredients like aloe vera, chamomile, or licorice extract to help soothe redness and inflammation. If your skin is particularly sensitive, look for alcohol-free options. Some toners also contain hyaluronic acid, which helps retain moisture and prevent dryness associated with aging.

A gentle vitamin C serum can help reduce redness from rosacea and improve skin tone, while also providing antioxidant protection against environmental stressors. Look for a stable form of vitamin C, such as ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbyl phosphate, and avoid formulas with high concentrations if your skin is sensitive. A vitamin C serum also helps with collagen production, which is important for anti-aging.
At the core of every great personalized skincare routine is a great moisturizer. To protect your skin barrier and hydrate throughout the day, use a moisturizer suited for sensitive skin. For rosacea and acne-prone skin, look for products that are non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores), and incorporate ingredients like ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide to further calm inflammation and support skin elasticity. These ingredients also help address early signs of aging by promoting a healthy skin barrier and improving moisture retention.

Sun protection is crucial, especially when dealing with rosacea, acne, and signs of aging. UV exposure can exacerbate rosacea flare-ups and cause premature aging. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher that is specifically formulated for sensitive skin. Opt for a mineral-based sunscreen (zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) if you have reactive skin, as these are less likely to cause irritation compared to chemical sunscreens.

Repeat your morning cleanser in the evening to remove makeup, sunscreen, and impurities accumulated throughout the day. This ensures that your skin stays clear without further aggravating acne or rosacea.
Exfoliation is important for cell turnover, which helps prevent clogged pores that could lead to acne. However, you must be cautious not to over exfoliate, as this can worsen rosacea and irritation. Use a gentle exfoliant with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). Glycolic acid or lactic acid can provide mild exfoliation and promote the removal of dead skin cells. Alternatively, salicylic acid (a BHA) is ideal for acne-prone skin as it penetrates deep into the pores. Use this exfoliation step 2-3 times a week.

If you’re experiencing active acne breakouts, consider using a spot treatment that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. These ingredients are effective in targeting blemishes and reducing inflammation. Apply the treatment only to the affected areas, and avoid applying it over large areas of sensitive skin, as this can irritate rosacea-prone skin.
A retinoid or peptide-based serum can help reduce the visible signs of aging by boosting collagen production and speeding up cell turnover. However, retinoids can be harsh on sensitive skin, so if you have rosacea, start with a gentle form like retinaldehyde or retinol in lower concentrations. If you find retinoids too irritating, consider peptide serums that focus on skin repair and anti-aging without causing irritation.
At night, switch to a richer moisturizer that will hydrate and repair your skin overnight. Look for products with ingredients like ceramides, peptides, and squalane, which help repair the skin barrier, lock in moisture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Night creams often contain more nourishing and rejuvenating ingredients that target the skin’s needs while you sleep.
