The Perfect Pre-Wedding Skincare Regimen From a Licensed Esthetician

March 14, 2024

A pre-wedding skincare timeline for radiant bridal skin at a medspa can span from a few months up to a year. This is to ensure optimal results, but also to give your skin plenty of time to adjust to new products and let any new treatments settle in before the big day.

Whether you have 12 months or 12 weeks, let’s jump into the ideal pre-wedding skincare regimen!

12 Months Before the Wedding:

Consultation: Schedule a complimentary consultation with a Nurse Practitioner to discuss your skincare goals and concerns. They will assess your skin and recommend suitable treatments. Remember to always have realistic expectations, especially if you don’t have a year or more before the wedding.

No matter where you are in this timeline, an initial skincare consultation should always be your first step!

6-12 Months Before the Wedding:

Customized Skincare Routine: Begin a customized skincare routine recommended by one of our providers here at Atalo Aesthetics. This may include cleansers, serums, moisturizers, and sunscreen.

It can take a few weeks up to a couple of months for products to really settle in. If you have more persistent or severe acne, it’s important you start a medical-grade skincare routine alongside any treatments to see even greater results!

Plus we often go through an initial skin purging phase with new product. These temporary breakouts are completely normal and is just your skin getting used to them. This can last for a couple weeks, however, which is why it’s important to give your skin plenty of time.

Chemical Peels: Start a series of chemical peels to exfoliate the skin, improve skin tone, and reduce pigmentation issues. The number of peels required will depend on your skin’s needs.

6 Months Before The Wedding (If New To Injectables):

Botox: If you want to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, consider getting Botox or Dysport injections. If you are new to Botox, Dysport, or really any kind of injectable, we recommend giving yourself at least 6 months before the wedding.

2 Months Before the Wedding:

Laser Treatments: Consider laser treatments such as laser resurfacing or laser skin tightening to address specific skin concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, or sagging skin. Multiple sessions may be required for optimal results. Here at Atalo Aesthetics in Cincinnati, Ohio we offer BBL, Halo, and Moxi!

Head over to our Instagram to see lots of amazing before and after photos from our own patients! Laser treatments are best when performed as a series and should mostly be avoided during the summer months. If your wedding is during that time, you’ll want to prepare early and start having lasers done in the winter or spring leading up to then!

Microneedling: Schedule a few sessions of microneedling to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture. This can help reduce the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, and uneven skin tone.

20 weeks Before the Wedding:

Hydrafacial: Treat yourself to a hydrating and exfoliating Hydrafacial to deeply cleanse, hydrate, and brighten your skin. This can give you an instant glow and improve the overall appearance of your skin. Depending on your skins condition, may require multiple treatments.

8 Weeks Before the Wedding:

Dermal Fillers: If desired, consider dermal fillers to address any volume loss or enhance certain facial features. This should be done a few weeks in advance to allow any swelling or bruising to subside.

3-4 Weeks Before the Wedding:

Botox: It is recommended to do this at least three weeks before the wedding to allow time for the effects to fully settle. This is for existing patients who are not new to Botox or Dysport (see above regarding “6 Months” if you are new to injectables).

Final Skincare Touch-Ups: Visit  Atalo Aesthetics for any final skincare treatments, such as a refreshing facial or a light chemical peel, to ensure your skin is in its best condition for the big day.

Follow Skincare Routine: Continue following your customized skincare routine diligently, including regular cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection.

Remember to consult with our nurse practitioners to determine the best pre-wedding skincare timeline and treatments for your specific needs. It’s important to start early to allow enough time for the treatments to take effect and for any potential side effects to subside before the wedding day.

We realize some may not either have the time or budget to make the above timeline a reality. At the end of the day, it’s all about doing what you can in the time you have. Even if you only have time for new skincare and a HydraFacial or two, that’s better than nothing at all!

As always, we’re to help and ready when you need us!
