What is sculptra?

The most commonly treated areas with Sculptra include the temples, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. Sculptra can also be injected into areas of the body such as the neck, chest, arms, legs, and booty. 

Sculptra cannot be injected around the mouth or under the eyes in the tear trough region. 

Depending on the number of vials injected in one session, a Sculptra treatment can take 30-60 minutes. 

Every patient new to Sculptra will need 2-3 treatments to start. Thereafter, maintenance of Sculptra is typically suggested annually.  

Some patients see results within a few months, but more commonly, patients will begin to see results 3-4 months after their second treatment. It is crucial to follow the suggested treatment schedule set by your provider. 

Results may vary from person to person. Your practitioner will talk through your treatment expectations and any maintenance requirements to get the most out of your results during your consultation. You can generally expect Sculptra injections to be semi-permanent and last up to 2 years.

When injected, Sculptra is a water-based solution. For the first 48 hours, your face will just feel fuller. After 48 hours, the water is absorbed by your tissue and the PLLA will start to take effect. 

There are a lot of factors to consider before receiving any aesthetic treatment, it is important to talk openly and honestly with a practitioner you trust. Sculptra is a treatment for almost anyone.

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
• If you actively have a skin infection
• If you have autoimmune disorders

Side effects from Sculptra are not very common but if one does occur, the most common is a nodule. Nodules occur for various reasons but if they do occur, they are typically treatable.  

For pre-care, you’ll just want to avoid alcohol for 48 hours to decrease the risk of bruising.

The most important action to do after a Sculptra treatment is to massage the treatment areas. The general rule for massaging is 5-5-5. This means you will need to massage your face for five minutes, five times a day, for five days. Proper massage helps eliminate side effects and stimulates the most collagen for enhanced results.
